Every year more than 40 enthusiastic school children of all ages and teachers from the whole Stockholm region come in contact with House of Science . In recent decades, fiction writers have been creating new kinds of stories about science. They are exploring its practices, concepts, people, institutions, products .
Each lesson page includes an animation that supports learning. A lesson ends with a brief quiz and links to experiment videos that relate to the lesson.
Fiction meets Science: The World of Science under the Literary Microscope
In Experiments kids can directly access the experiments that appear at the end of the lessons. The experiments are fairly simple, but some require materials such as spring balances that might be hard to find, so planning ahead is essential. In Glossary kids can tap to read and hear definitions. In Mini Games kids can choose from three games that challenge them to apply what they learned.

This is a useful resource with a variety of strategies for teaching kids about fundamental science concepts, and the addition of a few more games and improved quiz questions would make it even better. The lessons contain age-appropriate content, the supporting graphics do an excellent job of illustrating concepts, and the mini-games target concepts from the lessons, giving kids an opportunity to apply what they learned.
Though the quizzes that follow each lesson are good practice for kids, there are only three quiz questions, some of the wording is awkward, and quiz scores can't be saved. Very popular among students and teachers. Vetenskapens Hus also invites a number of scientists, primarily from KTH and Stockholm University, who give lectures and participate in educational programs for working teachers, inspiration evenings and events focusing on research.
The Climate Day, during which the most recent ICCP report was presented and discussed, as well as the event for school teachers about the Higgs particle, were very popular.

This is part of Researcher Night that is arranged at more than places around Europe. Always the last Friday in September. Vetenskapens Hus has the main responsibility for the organization of this event. One of the aims of the work at Vetenskapens Hus is to contribute in the efforts to provide Sweden with more well educated people working in Science, Technology and Mathematics. The core of the activities is the more than school programs and some 20 educational programs for teachers working in schools, in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Technology.
