The more than we continue to hold each other to a standard of excellence the more that will become the "average" for our program. Everyone's performance matters and everyone is important. Thank you all for everything that you do. It was tough to replicate what we did at Gilmour for a second week in a row at the Legends Meet and it showed in our results, but we continue to show signs of growth.
We continue to close the gap on St. The Legends Meet is the last time we will evaluate our success based off of our growth in our 5K times.

For the remainder of the season our success will be defined by the final pillar of our program, winning. We are going to continue to race with smart tactics but our number one priority moving forward will be winning.

As we said when we met in July here are our goals left on the table: It will be no different this year. Comet of the Week: On a day where PR's were few and far between for most runners, Nathan Close, ran a lifetime personal record time and finished fifth overall for the Comets.
Every time Nathan has never finished outside of the top nine at any meet this season. Emily has been advised by her coach to not travel from Oregon to the Legends Meet. Emily has been injured for all spring and summer and is training hard to came back from the injury She is hoping to attend The Legends Meet in a future year but is withdrawing this year.
Good Luck and God Speed Emily!! Michelle Sikes - There rarely was a challenge - either in the classroom or on the track or cross country course - that was too much for Michelle Sikes. During her years at Lakewood High School and Wake Forest University, Michelle continued to raise standards of excellence for herself and others who would follow her as a student-athlete.
Her hall of fame career included All-American athletic honors in high school and college and receipt of one of the most prestigious international academic scholarships. It did not take long for Michelle to make her mark, finishing 10th in the Division I cross country final as a freshman in That performance proved to be the only time she would finish outside of the top four in any OHSAA championship race.
In the spring ofMichelle claimed her first state title, leading a parade of six under She also finished second in the 1, at Columbus.
She finished 22nd in her first of two trips to Balboa Park for the national final. In track, she added a fourth in the 3, and third in the 4x relay to her growing list of podium finishes at the state meet.
Michelle captured the Division I title in cross country at Scioto Downs in November before closing out her junior year with a flourish at the state track meet. She claimed her second state gold medal in the 3, after finishing second in both the 4x relay and the 1, As a senior at Lakewood, Michelle finished third in the state cross country meet before claiming the same place in the Foot Locker Midwest regional in Wisconsin.

In track, Michelle wrapped up her high school career with a second in the 3, and fourth in the 1, Four years later, she was one of the most decorated student-athletes in Wake Forest history. Michelle was a five-time All-American and an eight-time All-ACC honoree, earning all-league honors three times in cross country, three times in outdoor track and twice in indoor track. She was the ACC indoor 5, champ in and won the outdoor 5, and 10, the same year.
She also won the NCAA outdoor title in the 5, in with a meet and school record, becoming the first Demon Deacon female student-athlete to win an NCAA individual track championship. Her winning time of Michelle still holds outdoor school records at Wake Forest in the 1, mile, 5, and 10, Her lifetime best of Michelle was ranked No.
A mathematical economics major, she received the Rhodes Scholarship inbecoming just the third student-athlete in Wake Forest history to earn the award. She earned the Edwin G. Earlier this year, she was inducted into the university's sports hall of fame in her first year of eligibility.
